“The Island of Doctor Moreau” bу H. G. Wells
“The Island Of Doctor Moreau” tells the story of the castaway English scientist Edward Prendick. He is saved from certain death by a passing ship. On board, he meets Montgomery Moreau, a famous London physiologist, who has been exposed for his ruthless experiments in vivisection. The ship transports a number of animals to an island, that belongs to him. When they reach their destination the captain forces Prendick off the ship and despite Moreau refuses to house him at first, he eventually takes him out of pity.
When Mareau starts performing his painful experiments on the animals, their agonizing cries make Prendick run away in the jungle. While wandering, he stumbles upon a group of people appearing more like beasts than humans. He decides to return to safety, but on his way back he is chased by something. He strikes it down and in horror, he sees that it’s a hideous hybrid between a man and an animal. Shocked he goes to Moreau, but he stays secretive, refusing to give him any more information.
Soon Prendick finds out that the hybrids from the jungle are in fact a result of Moreau’s experiments. Stuck on the island with him, Prendick begins to fear he might end up a victim to the doctor’s insanity.
